Schedule a tire rotation at any of dealerships in Michiana. Rotating your tires according to the manufacturer's reccomendations, or about every 7,500 miles, is ideal for maximizing the life of your tires. Front tires are typically going to wear faster for two reasons: the front-axle tends to carry more weight and the front tires experience more friction when turning. Rotating your tires will ensure even wear between all four.

There are three major ways to rotate your tire. Ask your service advisor which one is going to be best for your particular vehicle. But they are as follows:

• Crisscross front to rear and rear straight to front
• Crisscross rear to rear and front straight to rear

Tire Tread Depth

Sufficient tire tread allows water to disperse from underneath the tire, keeping your tires physically on the road and allowing you to stop within a shorter distance. A deeper tread allows for safer, quicker stopping, especially vital on wet, slippery roads. When your tread depth gets low, replacing your tires will ensure you have optimum tread to safely drive and brake in all weather conditions. A quick way to check your tires' tread depth is to use the Penny Test.

• Grab a penny
• Place it the tread with Lincoln's head facing down
• Look at the penny straight on
• Your tire should cover up some of Lincoln's head

If his head is fully visible, that means your tread depth is less than 2/32" and you need new tires. Make sure to test different parts of your tire as it may not wear down evenly. Getting regular alignments helps ensure your tires wear evenly so that one tire does not become bald before the others.
